London-based shipowner Zodiac Maritime has taken delivery of its 10th LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), strengthening its role in moving vehicles for some of the world’s largest automakers.

The 7,000 CEU vessel Jisu Glory, built at China’s Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore yard, is the latest in a series of LNG dual-fuel carriers ordered by Zodiac to serve global automotive trade lanes.

The company now operates one of the largest LNG-powered PCTC fleets, with ships transporting cars for manufacturers including BYD, SAIC, Geely and Ford.

The move reflects a wider industry shift towards lower-emission transport solutions in the automotive supply chain, as vehicle makers look to align logistics with their own decarbonisation targets.

Yantai CIMC Raffles noted that the PCTC series also highlights Chinese shipyards’ growing capability in delivering advanced gas-fuelled tonnage.
