Two Singapore bunker craft operators, Brightoil Petroleum and Gea-Alpha, will no longer be permitted to run bunker craft operations in the port after October 31, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has confirmed.

In separate circulars released on Wednesday, the MPA said it would not renew the firms’ existing licences, effectively ending their activities from 1 November.

While no explanation was given for the move, MPA used the notice to underline its stance on compliance.

The authority reminded all bunker suppliers and craft operators that strict adherence to licensing rules is mandatory.

“MPA will not hesitate to take firm action against any licensee that contravenes any of its bunker licence terms and conditions,” the circular warned, adding that breaches could affect renewals, lead to suspension or cancellation of licences, or trigger further enforcement action.

The decision underscores MPA’s continuing efforts to maintain oversight of the world’s largest bunkering hub and enforce discipline within its licensing regime.
