Norway-based TMC Compressors has secured a contract from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries to supply marine compressed air systems for four LNG carriers being built for Greece-based TMS Cardiff Gas.
TMC will deliver instrument and service air compressors for each of the vessels. The systems are single-stage, oil-lubricated marine screw compressors designed for continuous operation in high ambient temperatures.
The company did not disclose the value of the contract.
“We have historically delivered a number of similar marine compressed air systems to both SHI and TMS Cardiff Gas,” said Hans-Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.
Each LNG carrier will have a cargo capacity of 174,000 m³. According to media reports, the vessels are scheduled for delivery in late 2028.
TMS Cardiff Gas specialises in the management of LNG and LPG carriers, while TMC is headquartered in Oslo and supplies compressed air systems for marine and offshore applications.
