South Korea’s KSS Line has ordered three 90,000 cbm LPG dual-fuel very large gas carriers (VLGCs) from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The vessels were ordered through HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering under a contract valued at KRW 504.8 billion ($342 million). Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2029.

Two of the vessels will operate under long-term charter agreements with BGN Group, while the third will be chartered to Gyxis.

KSS Line recently renewed an existing six-vessel charter agreement with BGN Group and has also secured a new seven-year charter covering the two additional vessels. A separate five-year charter agreement has been signed with Gyxis.

According to KSS Line, the vessels are designed to pass through both the old and new Panama Canal locks, helping improve operational flexibility and reduce congestion risks while meeting tightening environmental regulations.

The company said the order supports its strategy of maintaining competitiveness in the gas carrier sector through continued investment in dual-fuel vessels.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said it has secured vessel orders worth $9.35 billion so far this year.
