Germany-based propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL has been selected to supply rudder propellors for two new LNG bunkering vessels operated by China’s Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG).
The vessels are under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard and are scheduled for delivery in April 2027.
Each vessel will be fitted with two SCHOTTEL SRP 460 LE rudder propellors designed to provide the precise manoeuvrability needed for ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations alongside large vessels, including in difficult weather conditions.
The vessels will use fully electric propulsion, with the LE-Drive configuration integrating the electric drive motor vertically to improve mechanical efficiency while reducing vibration and noise.
The rudder propellors will also feature SCHOTTEL’s ProAnode corrosion protection technology, which the company said can help reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
In addition, the vessels will be equipped with SCHOTTEL’s MariHub monitoring solution for condition-based maintenance and operational monitoring.
SCHOTTEL said the vessels will support growing LNG bunkering demand and help strengthen fuel supply security as LNG adoption in shipping continues to expand.
