Norwegian shipbuilder Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted has selected Hydroniq Coolers to supply marine cooling equipment for a new hybrid-powered live fish carrier being built for North Salmon Service.
Hydroniq Coolers, based near Ålesund, Norway, will deliver its hull-integrated Rack seawater cooling system for the vessel, which is based on the HAV 595 design.
The system is installed below the engine room inside the hull, helping free up onboard space while cooling engines and auxiliary equipment with seawater.
According to Hydroniq Coolers, the cooling package includes several features aimed at lowering fuel and energy consumption, including variable-speed seawater pumps, a chilled water element and a heat recovery solution.
The company also said the system is designed to simplify maintenance by allowing crew to remove and clean the coolers without requiring dry-docking or external service technicians.
The vessel will feature a hybrid propulsion setup incorporating battery power, DC distribution and variable-speed generator sets to improve operational flexibility and support future alternative fuel options.
Construction of the vessel is underway in Norway, with delivery expected in 2027.
