Japan-based engine manufacturer Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) said it will showcase its latest low-carbon marine engine developments at the Posidonia 2026 exhibition in Athens next month.
The company said it will present its strategy for alternative-fuel capable low-speed two-stroke UE engines, including progress on ammonia, hydrogen and methanol-fuelled technologies.
J-ENG noted that it completed the world’s first full-scale ammonia-fuelled engine, the 7UEC50LSJA-HPSCR, in August 2025, with an ammonia carrier equipped with the engine scheduled for launch in November 2026.
The company also said it began all-cylinder hydrogen co-firing operations in March this year using its 6UEC35LSGH hydrogen-fuelled full-scale engine.
Alongside its ammonia engine programme, J-ENG said it is developing the UEC60LSJA ammonia-fuelled engine and the UEC50LSJM methanol-fuelled engine as it expands its alternative fuel portfolio.
The company added that it is also developing the heavy fuel-focused UEC60LSH engine series aimed at ultra-low fuel consumption.
J-ENG will exhibit at the Japan Pavilion (Hall 4-101/19) during Posidonia 2026, taking place in Athens, Greece, from June 1-5.
