Galveston LNG Bunker Port (GLBP) has appointed NV5 LNG Engineering Services as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for its planned LNG terminal at Shoal Point in Texas City, Texas.

The project, scheduled to come online in 2028, will have an initial capacity of 360,000 gallons per day (about 200,000 mt/year).

It will supply LNG bunker fuel by barge to vessels operating in the Houston, Galveston, and Texas City ports, with the flexibility to deliver conventional LNG, renewable LNG, and synthetic e-LNG.

Located on the Texas City Ship Channel, the terminal is being developed as the first dedicated LNG liquefaction and bunkering facility on the US Gulf Coast. GLBP said the project is designed to meet rising demand for lower-carbon fuels and strengthen regional energy resilience.

Peter Dirksen, Vice President of NV5 LNG, noted: “We are thrilled to assist GLBP with their strategic initiative. The terminal can play a pivotal role in diversifying the region’s energy mix, enhancing new marine fuel supply resilience, and delivering cleaner-burning fuel to the maritime industry.
