Berg Propulsion has secured a contract with Akdeniz Shipyard to supply the propulsion package for an 8,000-dwt diesel-electric chemical tanker.

The vessel, classed by RINA, is being built for Transka Tankers to a design developed by Norden Design House, with delivery scheduled for February 2027.

Berg Propulsion’s scope includes a complete propulsion system, featuring a twin-in/single-out gearbox, dual permanent magnet machines, integrated control system, and an electrically driven bow thruster.

The company said the integrated solution is aimed at supporting the vessel’s operational efficiency and performance.

Berg Propulsion designs and manufactures propulsion technologies including controllable- and fixed-pitch propellers, azimuth and transverse thrusters, as well as integrated electrical and control systems for commercial and naval vessels.
