New Delhi, November 17,  2023 :  Fugro has secured a contract to carry out a geophysical survey at Lithuania’s first offshore wind farm site.

Ignitis Renewables has tapped the Dutch surveyor to support the 700 MW project it is developing together with Ocean Winds, a joint venture between Engie and EDP Renewables.

The offshore wind farm development is located some 30 to 36 km from Lithuania’s Baltic Sea coast, covering an area of about 120 sq km. The project is expected to become operational by 2030.

Fugro will utilise its geophysical survey vessel, the Fugro Frontier to collect the data which will be used to determine the optimal wind turbine foundation design and locations. According to the reports published in  splash247.com .

“The information gathered from these surveys brings us another step closer to making the first offshore wind farm in Lithuania a reality. The geophysical data acquisition is a critical milestone in our preparatory phase, laying the groundwork necessary to initiate construction on schedule,” stated Vytautas Rimas head of offshore development at Ignitis Renewables.
