Maritime technology company Ofiniti and industry body Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) are partnering to simplify and standardise LNG bunker compatibility assessments.
The companies said the initiative will develop standardised vessel data templates and automated compatibility checks for LNG bunkering operations, building on SGMF’s previous work and industry best practice.
As part of the collaboration, BASiL, SGMF’s safety distance modelling tool, will be integrated into Ofiniti’s FuelBoss platform, allowing compatibility calculations, scheduling, safety checklists and electronic bunker delivery note (eBDN) functions to be handled within a single workflow.
The companies said the partnership is intended to reduce manual processes, minimise errors and create a more consistent approach to LNG bunker operations.
“Less manual work. Fewer errors. A consistent baseline across every LNG operation, with safety maintained and assessment time minimised,” Ofiniti said in a statement.
Compatibility assessments are required before every LNG bunkering operation to verify that vessels can safely conduct fuel transfers.
