Brazilian refiner and energy company Petrobras has signed an agreement to supply marine biofuel to Norway-based Odfjell, a chemical tanker operator and bulk liquids shipping company.

The deal covers deliveries of Petrobras’ VLS B24 fuel, a VLSFO blend containing 24% biodiesel and 76% conventional fuel, produced at the company’s refineries.

Fuel will be blended and supplied by barge from Petrobras’ Rio Grande terminal in southern Brazil, with the contract предусматрива deliveries of up to 12,000 tonnes during 2026.

The product is certified under the ISCC EU sustainability scheme and complies with the EU’s FuelEU Maritime regulation, which sets limits on greenhouse gas intensity for marine fuels used by ships calling at European ports.

“The sale of the VLS B24 to a company with a strong international presence demonstrates Petrobras’ consistent progress towards a low-carbon market, in synergy with our 2026-2030 Business Plan. This initiative not only generates value for the business but also enables concrete solutions in new energies and decarbonization, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Claudio Schlosser, Petrobras’ Director of Logistics, Commercialization and Markets.

The companies said the agreement also supports a Brazil–Norway green shipping corridor initiative launched in 2025.
