US-based Ghostworks Marine has been certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to design and build zero-emission electric vessels.

The certification makes Ghostworks’ vessels eligible under CARB’s Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE), which subsidises the adoption of zero-emission equipment by businesses and public agencies.

“By contributing to California’s ambitious zero-emission goals, we are excited to push the boundaries of what’s possible in maritime transportation while protecting our oceans and coastal ecosystems,” said Britt Ward, Chief Naval Architect of Ghostworks.

Ghostworks said its clean vessel designs will give transit authorities and private operators new opportunities to reduce emissions, cut fuel costs and support California’s zero-emission targets.
