G2 Ocean has launched Emission Reduction Certificates, a book-and-claim service that enables cargo owners and transport buyers to reduce their shipping-related Scope 3 emissions by purchasing verified emission reductions generated from biofuel use.

The service is available to any company with transport emissions and does not require cargo to be carried on a specific low-emission G2 Ocean voyage. Revenue from certificate sales will be reinvested into additional biofuel-powered voyages, helping expand biofuel adoption and narrow the cost gap with conventional marine fuels.

The certificates are backed by certified biofuel use on G2 Ocean vessels and are issued through a blockchain-connected registry designed to ensure transparency, traceability and prevent double counting.

“Supply chain decarbonisation requires practical solutions. With our new service, Emission Reduction Certificates, customers can take immediate action to reduce their transport emissions while supporting the increased use of lower-emission fuels,” CEO Arthur English said.

The service offers certificates linked to both regulatory compliance and voluntary emissions reductions, allowing customers to align purchases with their climate targets and reporting requirements.
