Newlight has completed RINA-approved Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for its plug-and-play hydrogen retrofit package designed for diesel marine engines.
The system has been validated to deliver higher fuel efficiency, significantly lower emissions, and full compliance with IGF Code safety standards, the company said.
Newlight described the retrofit as an immediate, practical pathway to deep decarbonisation for existing vessels, rather than waiting for new ship generations.
The company said the next step will be first vessel installation and Harbor Acceptance Testing (HAT).
Partners involved in the project include Lomarlabs, RINA, Aurelia, and Lomar Shipping.
