Hong Kong will mandate mass flow meters (MFMs) to be used for all methanol bunkering operations from 2026, the city’s Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mable Chan, said at the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board’s flagship session on 18 November.

According to the Hong Kong Government, MFMs will be introduced to improve accuracy, fairness and transparency in the delivery of green marine fuels.

The measure forms part of the city’s broader regulatory framework to support the development of alternative fuel bunkering.
