Anemoi Marine Technologies and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry have renewed and expanded their framework agreement to provide wind propulsion installation services across COSCO’s shipyard network.
The partners first signed a cooperation agreement in 2022 and have since completed nine Rotor Sail installations at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (CHI) subsidiary yards, including very large ore carrier (VLOC) projects for Vale and U-Ming at CHI Zhoushan.
Under the updated agreement, Anemoi customers will be able to access CHI’s technical services covering integration design through to onboard installation at any CHI subsidiary yard in China. The deal is intended to offer a more streamlined, turnkey pathway for shipowners considering wind-assisted propulsion retrofits or newbuild installations.
Nick Contopoulos, CCO of Anemoi, said the renewed framework would deliver “more value, clarity and confidence” to owners pursuing wind propulsion projects.
Jony Guo, Director of Repair & Conversion at CHI’s commercial headquarters, said the expanded partnership would support wider uptake of wind-assisted propulsion and greener shipping operations.
