AD Ports Group and IRH Global Trading have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation on bunkering services and alternative marine fuels at Khalifa Port.

The agreement will assess opportunities to expand marine fuel services at the UAE port, including the supply of conventional bunker fuels and lower-carbon alternatives.

Under the MoU, the companies will explore providing bunkering services to vessels calling at Khalifa Port, while also evaluating the development of alternative fuel offerings such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), biofuels and methanol.

The collaboration will also consider investments in supporting infrastructure, including fuel storage, terminal facilities, and fuel sampling and testing capabilities.

Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of Ports Cluster at AD Ports Group, said the partnership supports the group’s strategy of developing future-ready port infrastructure while strengthening the UAE’s position as a global trade and logistics hub.

IRH Global Trading Group CEO Ali Rashed Alrashdi said bunkering and alternative marine fuels represent a significant growth opportunity as the company expands its global energy trading business, adding that Khalifa Port provides a strong platform for developing those activities.

IRH Global Trading is building an international commodities trading business spanning minerals and energy products, including LNG, LPG, crude oil and refined petroleum products. The companies said the partnership would combine IRH’s trading capabilities with AD Ports Group’s port infrastructure to strengthen Khalifa Port’s position as a hub for sustainable and future-oriented maritime services.
