Marine fuel supplier Bunker One has expanded its 0.10% sulphur ULSFO supply network across northern Germany, targeting greater flexibility and cost efficiency for shipowners operating in emission control areas.
While meeting the 0.10% sulphur cap is technically straightforward, operators often face challenges balancing compliance with cost and operational efficiency, particularly across multiple port calls and tight schedules. In northern Germany, DMA has traditionally been the default compliant fuel, but its pricing has not always been the most competitive.
Bunker One is positioning ULSFO as an alternative by strengthening supply infrastructure in the region. In Hamburg, deliveries are supported by the bunker barge Uwe Deymann, which has a capacity of 4,300 cbm and pumping rates of up to 1,000 cbm per hour, enabling faster turnaround times.
From April 1, 2026, the company has also extended supply to the Weser River region, covering ports including Bremerhaven, Bremen, Brake and Nordenham. Operations there are handled by the barge Antwerp, which can supply two grades and has a capacity of 3,566 cbm.
Additional coverage is provided via truck supply in Travemünde, supporting vessels operating across the wider Baltic region.
The expanded network allows Bunker One to serve both contract and spot demand, increasing optionality for shipowners seeking compliant and potentially more economical fuel solutions.
