Netherlands-based Ned Marine has launched flying drone and subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspection services for non-destructive testing (NDT) operations.
The company said the new services will support inspections of vessels, offshore installations and industrial assets both above and below water, including confined spaces.
According to Ned Marine, drone-based inspections can carry out visual checks and ultrasonic thickness measurements in hard-to-access areas such as ballast tanks, cargo holds, wind turbines and storage facilities, reducing the need for scaffolding, rope access or diving operations.
The company said inspection times could be reduced by up to four times compared with conventional methods.
Ned Marine added that its new ROV services can operate at depths of up to 300 metres, supporting hull inspections, cathodic protection assessments and pre-docking surveys.
Leo Zwagemaker said integrating drone and ROV technology into the company’s NDT services would help clients reduce downtime and improve maintenance planning.
