Anew Climate and Seaspan Energy have completed the first ship-to-ship bunkering of bio-LNG at the Port of Long Beach, marking a major milestone for lower-carbon marine fuel adoption on the U.S. West Coast.
The operation is the first under the companies’ strategic partnership to deliver renewable LNG at scale.
Conducted in one of North America’s busiest ports, the bunkering demonstrates how existing LNG infrastructure can support the transition to renewable fuel alternatives.
The renewable natural gas used to produce the bio-LNG was sourced from a Morrow Energy facility, certified with a carbon intensity of just 7.74g CO₂e/MJ under the ISCC framework.

The operation follows Anew Climate’s earlier milestones, including the first Bio-LNG fuelling of a vessel in the U.S. in 2021 and the launch of a carbon-neutral platform supply vessel in 2022.
