Cosco Shipping (Qidong) Offshore has selected TMC Compressors to supply a complete marine compressed air system for a shuttle tanker it is building for Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT).
The scope of supply includes both instrument air and service air compressors for the newbuild shuttle tanker NB 1252, which will have a cargo capacity of 170,500 cbm. TMC will deliver the system to COSCO’s Qidong yard in China’s Jiangsu province, where it will be installed on board the vessel.
“Energy efficiency and lowest possible operating cost is what all shipowners strive for, and that is what we are emulating with our marine compressors,” said Hans-Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.
The contract follows an earlier announcement in October, when TMC said it had been awarded an order to supply its Smart Air compressors to another KNOT shuttle tanker being built at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan).
“KNOT has been a highly important end-customer over many years. We are delighted to support both them and COSCO once again,” Tanum added.
TMC designs marine compressed air systems exclusively for offshore and marine applications and is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
