Grimaldi Group has put financing in place to support the purchase of three ammonia-ready pure car and truck carriers, securing EUR 162.3 million through a green loan structure.

The funding was arranged by Intesa Sanpaolo via its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division.

Proceeds from the facility will be used by Grimaldi Euromed to acquire the PCTCs Grande Egitto, Grande Pacifico and Grande Oceania. All three vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2026.

The ships form part of a broader newbuilding programme that includes 17 PCTCs ordered by the Grimaldi Group between 2022 and 2023, representing a total investment exceeding $1.6 billion.

Each of the three vessels will offer a capacity of 9,800 car equivalent units (CEU) and will be delivered with an ammonia-ready notation, allowing for future conversion to ammonia propulsion as the fuel matures commercially.
