Spanish companies Naturgy and Enagás are partnering on a new LNG bunkering vessel to serve the Iberian Peninsula through Enagás subsidiary Scale Green Energy.
The vessel, to be named Mistral LNG, will have a cargo capacity of 18,900 cbm.
Construction began in early 2026, with Scale Green Energy to own and operate the ship, while Naturgy will charter it from 2028 under a long-term agreement.
The companies said the vessel will primarily operate in the Iberian Peninsula, with additional deployments in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Canary Islands.
Mistral LNG will be 138.8 metres long, feature a dual-fuel engine, have a service speed of 13 knots and a range of more than 4,500 nautical miles.
Enagás said the addition will expand its LNG bunkering fleet to four vessels.
The partners said demand for LNG and bio-LNG bunkering is expected to rise as EU emissions rules tighten.
