Chemship has returned to Econowind, a Dutch supplier of wind-assisted ship propulsion systems, to install VentoFoils on two additional vessels as it steps up efforts to cut fuel consumption and emissions.
The company said Chemical Contender and Chemical Fighter will each be fitted with four 16-metre ATEX-certified VentoFoils in the second half of 2026.
The repeat order follows the installation of the same system on Chemical Challenger in early 2024, which Chemship described as the first chemical tanker to operate with wind-assisted propulsion.

The installation of VentoFoils on two more ships shows we are making meaningful progress towards a cleaner shipping future.”

Chemship said the installations will support compliance with FuelEU Maritime and form part of a broader efficiency programme that also includes hull coatings, lubricants and propulsion upgrades.
