Biofuels company Alcotra, part of the Alcogroup family, has joined MEMA, an alliance established by the Global Centre for Green Fuels focused on the use of methanol and ethanol in marine fuels.
The MEMA alliance aims to support initiatives that contribute to the decarbonisation of the marine fuel sector, as the shipping industry explores alternatives to conventional hydrocarbon-based fuels.
Alcotra said it will leverage its expertise in sustainable fuels alongside its global supply chain network to help develop and deliver reliable, low-carbon fuel solutions to the maritime sector.
The company added that it looks forward to working with industry partners within MEMA to support the introduction of ethanol into the marine fuel pool.
