Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has entered into a long-term LNG bunkering arrangement with Canada-based Seaspan Energy for vehicle carrier operations at the Port of Vancouver.
The agreement establishes annual LNG fuel supply coverage for MOL car carriers operating on the North America West Coast, with the first bunkering under the contract completed on April 29.
MOL said the deal supports efforts to secure reliable LNG availability in a region that has become increasingly important for its car carrier business.
The company has been expanding LNG bunkering activity in North America since carrying out its first LNG refuelling operation on the West Coast in March 2025.
MOL noted that the recent addition of LNG-fuelled vessels to its fleet has increased the importance of stable fuel procurement in the region.
Seaspan Energy said the agreement strengthens cooperation between the two companies in lower-emission marine fuel supply, while MOL indicated future collaboration could include bio-LNG supply.
